Sullivan & Cromwell has opened an office in the de facto capital of the European Union after adding Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati partner Michael Rosenthal.

The New York-based firm announced Monday its recruitment of Rosenthal, an EU and German competition expert who spent nearly the past six years at Wilson Sonsini, which he joined in late 2011 after serving as managing partner of Hunton & Williams’ Brussels office. Rosenthal, 47, also served as chair of Hunton & Williams’ European competition practice. At Wilson Sonsini, he founded and headed the firm’s first European office in Brussels.
