At one point during my Q&A published Monday with celebrated writer and retired Debevoise & Plimpton partner Louis Begley, I asked Begley whether he had experienced any anti-Semitism during his career. He said he hadn’t, and he expressed frustration that I was pressing the topic. In that context, I brought up Alan Dershowitz and the famous Harvard Law School professor’s alleged difficulty in getting jobs with Wall Street firms in the early 1960s.

Reacting to that discussion, Dershowitz sent The American Lawyer the following letter on Wednesday:
