Just in time for Memorial Day, four Am Law 100 firms sought to stoke and celebrate their transactional expertise by advising on an $8.4 billion combination of two leading real estate investment trusts.
New York REIT, based in the metropolis of the same name, has agreed to merge with The JBG Cos. and form Chevy Chase, Maryland-based JBG Realty Trust, a publicly traded real estate giant whose investments will predominantly be in the major markets of New York and Washington, D.C., as noted by sibling publication GlobeSt. New York REIT had been under pressure from shareholders to raise its value.
