To purchase a Palm Beach County mansion for $13.5 million, Microsoft executive Bill Gates turned to the firm that bears his father’s name: K&L Gates.
Legacy firm Preston Gates & Ellis, based in Seattle, once counted Bill Gates Sr. as a name partner. Preston Gates merged with Pittsburgh-based Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham to form K&L Gates in 2007.
