After a 21-year hiatus, the National Football League is poised to return to Los Angeles following a deal announced late Tuesday permitting the league’s St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers to relocate to the City of Angels.

Under the terms of the deal, the Rams will return to Los Angeles next season, and the Chargers have an option to join them a year later in the event the team cannot reach an agreement to build a new stadium in San Diego.
