Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton counsel David Flechner has joined Allen & Overy’s New York office as a partner in the London-based legal giant’s U.S. securities group.
Flechner, who is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, focuses his practice on Latin America. He joins Allen & Overy nine months after a pair of partners peeled off from the Magic Circle firm’s Latin American practice. The Am Law Daily reported in March on Robert Kartheiser Jr., co-head of Allen & Overy’s Latin American group, and Cathleen McLaughlin, a founder of the same practice and its New York capital markets head, decamping for Paul Hastings in New York.
