John Zuccotti, a senior counsel at Weil, Gotshal & Manges who helped to revitalize lower Manhattan after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, died on Friday, a representative of the firm confirmed. He was 78.
A leading figure in New York City real estate circles for decades, Zuccotti was a board member of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and is credited with helping to spur downtown development after the 9/11 attacks. Zuccotti Park, where protesters demonstrated for months during the Occupy Wall Street movement, was named for him.
