Former Dewey & LeBoeuf litigation partner Kenneth Freeling filed a complaint Friday in federal court in Washington, D.C., against Barclays, the British banking giant that financed capital contributions for partners at the now-defunct firm.

The 20-page complaint by Freeling, now of counsel at Covington & Burling in the nation’s capital, claims that he should not be on the hook for the $361,022 that Barclays says it is owed because of a loan issued to cover the former partner’s capital contribution at Dewey & LeBoeuf, which filed for bankruptcy in May 2012.
