Goodwin Procter on Thursday became the latest major law firm to bet on Germany, which remains a top destination for both established and aspiring global firms. Goodwin Procter announced that it will open an office in Frankfurt—its first in the country—to be headed by four former Ashurst partners who specialize in real estate transactions.

The Frankfurt outpost will be the third overseas office for Boston-founded Goodwin Procter, which also has offices in London and Hong Kong. It will have plenty of company in Germany, including recent arrivals and several firms that are upping their stakes in the country.
