After earlier retreats from Hungary and Romania, White & Case is poised to shrink further in Central and Eastern Europe with the loss of multiple partners from the firm’s Warsaw office, The American Lawyer has learned.
The bulk of White & Case’s Polish litigation practice, including former local managing partner Paweł Pietkiewicz and three other partners, will leave the firm for Greenberg Traurig and Baker & McKenzie, said three sources with knowledge of the moves. Pietkiewicz is due to join Greenberg Traurig in November to launch a stand-alone disputes practice for that firm in Poland, while all but two of the remaining local litigation partners—Łukasz Hejmej, Tomasz Manicki and Sebastian Pabian—are expected to join Baker & McKenzie’s Warsaw office.
