Davis Wright Tremaine has withdrawn its representation of Washington State Auditor Troy Kelley, now facing money laundering and additional tax-evasion charges after he was originally indicted earlier this year on charges related to stolen money from former business clients.
The team from Davis Wright, led by litigation partner and former state and federal prosecutor Mark Bartlett, filed a motion on Sept. 3 in U.S. district court in Seattle to withdraw its representation. The same day, a new indictment was unveiled against Kelley, increasing the total number of charges against him from 10 to 17. Prosecutors dropped one previous count of obstruction.
