I’m a proud resident of New York City, but I plead complete ignorance to two key facts that have figured prominently in the news recently:

1) Times Square is full of bare-breasted women covered in body paint who are available for photo ops with tourists;

2) Going topless in public is not illegal in New York.

Actually, a ruling by New York’s top court made it official that going topless is a protected right all over the state. (Who knew, right?) Reports the New York Times:

A 1992 Court of Appeals ruling on the state law said that women could indeed be topless in public, but let stand the prohibition against public female toplessness for commercial purposes.
