Thomas Barnett has only one regret about his decision to leave his career as a professional musician to attend law school.

In the late 1980s, the saxophone player scored a gig touring with Toots and the Maytals, a well-known Jamaican reggae band that had just been nominated for a Grammy for its album “Toots in Memphis.” The group, known for the hit song “Pressure Drop,” was asked to open for the Rolling Stones, who were on a world tour, but Barnett could not be there because he was taking the LSAT.
