As thousands of lawyers elbow their way through packed airports and clogged interstates in order to reach their holiday destinations, there is one among them who will travel to the end of the earth—on skis.
Jérémie Gicquel, an employment law associate at Paul Hastings, is in the fifth week of a 70-day cross-country skiing expedition that will take him and his wife, Stéphanie, to the South Pole and back. After months of preparation, the pair left Punta Arenas in southern Chile and started their trek on Nov. 14. They will travel more than 1,200 miles total at high altitudes and in temperatures as low as 49 degrees below zero.
