HEATH TARBERT has left the corporate department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges in Washington, D.C., and will join Allen & Overy as a partner in January. Above the Law first reported on the move, which Allen & Overy confirmed Tuesday. Tarbert, who is qualified to practice in both the United States and United Kingdom, advises on transactional and regulatory matters involving banks, thrifts, credit unions and other financial institutions. At Allen & Overy he will lead the firm’s U.S. bank regulatory group. Earlier in his career, Tarbert served as associate counsel to President George W. Bush and as special counsel to the U.S. Senate Banking Committee.
Weil also recently saw three of its Houston-based patent litigators decamp for Greenberg Traurig’s Austin office. The three attorneys moving to Greenberg are KEVIN KUDLAC and AMBER LEE HAGY, who join the firm as shareholders, and of counsel RENE TREVINO. At Weil, Kudlac was a partner, Hagy was of counsel and Trevino was an associate. In November, Greenberg added a trio of patent shareholders from Weil in Washington, D.C.
