For the second year in a row, Jenner & Block topped The American Lawyer’s ranking of Am Law 200 firms by their U.S. pro bono commitment, with Arnold & Porter coming in second. Firms reported performing a total of 4.75 million domestic pro bono hours in 2014, and 11 firms reported an average of 100 or more domestic pro bono hours per lawyer. For the second year, we also ranked Am Law 200 firms according to their non-U.S. lawyers’ pro bono commitment. Arnold & Porter took the top spot in those rankings, with Dechert in second place. The features and charts presented here offer a snapshot of The Am Law 200′s pro bono commitment in 2014—who did the work and what sort of work got done, while also examining long-term changes in the nature of pro bono at large law firms.
