Three global law firms not based in the U.S. stood out among their peers for the amount of pro bono work their lawyers abroad performed, according to our inaugural survey of pro bono in the Global 100. They are: the Magic Circle’s Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, with 23 pro bono hours per non-U.S.-based lawyer; London’s Simmons & Simmons, with 21; and South Korea’s Kim & Chang, with 20.
On average, though, non-U.S. lawyers at non-U.S. firms do half as much pro bono as non-U.S. lawyers at American firms in our sample. And both groups are eclipsed by U.S.-based lawyers at Am Law 100 firms.
