The folks at Seyfarth Shaw have released a Social Media Privacy Legislation Desktop Reference as a handy-dandy guide to the ins and outs of navigating the social Web. “Since April 2012, a growing number of states have passed some form of social media privacy legislation. Nearly all other state legislatures, as well as Congress, considered, or are considering, some version of legislation affecting employee privacy and social media,” said Robert Milligan, in a blog post.

According to the lawyers in Seyfarth’s social media practice group, the reference will act as a starting point to finding guidance when issues arise with respect to social media for human resource and in-house counsel. It discusses issues such as the the content and purpose of each states’ social media privacy laws, gives a state-by-state description of each law, and provides a chart with the key features in each state.
