The hospitality sector is under threat once again, but this time it’s not the dwindling economy to blame. A report last year showed the retail, food and beverage and hotel industries are the top three most targeted businesses for data breaches, according to Alaap Shah and Marshall Jackson on Epstein Becker & Green’s Hospitality Blog.

As hotels, resorts, spas and the like collect personal information, they’re taking a risk. For every breach, a company can expect to spend $114 per record to clean up the mess, say Shah and Jackson. “As operations digitize, hospitality organizations should be cognizant of the cyber security risks impacting the data that flows through their systems,” they warn.
