In recent years, Keurig single-serve beverage brewing machines have become ubiquitous in homes and offices, along with the small pods that go inside. But there’s a lot of legal work behind bringing the K-Cup pods and Keurig Green Mountain Inc.’s other products to the thirsty masses. At the center of it all is Mike Degnan, the company’s chief legal officer and group general counsel.
He’s been with the Vermont-based coffee company for about 13 years, starting with Keurig before it was acquired by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in 2006. He was Keurig’s first and only in-house lawyer for the first five years on the job and was named CLO in 2013, two years before the company went from public to private.
