London-based legal giant Clyde & Co announced Wednesday its merger with Mexico’s Garza Tello & Asociados, a 23-lawyer firm specializing in energy, insurance and maritime work.

The move is the latest bid by the British firm to expand in the Americas. Clyde & Co, which has 48 offices around the world, currently has 13 of them in Brazil, Canada, Venezuela and the U.S. The tie-up with Garza Tello, which awaits the approval of Mexican regulators, bolsters Clyde & Co’s disputes practice in Latin America. Garzo Tello lawyers will now work alongside their new colleagues in London, Madrid, Miami and New York.
