The response we most often hear is, “No, not going there.” Luckily, surveys of the legal industry by researchers and consultants have tried to find deeper answers about how attorney compensation works, particularly at large law firms. The findings below come from the most recent partner compensation survey from Major, Lindsey & Africa and ALM Intelligence; Am Law 200 annual financial reports; and ALM Intelligence consulting reports. The spread between what the highest- and lowest-paid partners make at a firm can range from eye-popping to almost no difference at all.
