Compensation for in-house counsel is up across the board, ranging from 3.7 percent to as much as 6 percent at some general counsel and expert counsel levels, according to HBR Consulting’s 2016 Law Department Survey. The HBR data coincides roughly with release of the “Equilar & BarkerGilmore General Counsel Pay Trends 2016″ report. It says that on average, GCs are earning 6.9 percent more than the previous year.
The HBR data includes all members of the legal department staff at mostly Fortune 500 companies, including administrative. The median revenue of companies surveyed was $9 billion.
