Speaking before a large and expectant crowd of reporters and executive branch employees assembled in the Statehouse rotunda on Tuesday, Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie restated his plans to serve out his term ending in January 2018 and used the opportunity to put to rest persistent reports that he was planning to leave office early to take a position in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration next year.

Instead, he used the news conference to announce a major renovation of the executive branch portion of the building, after which he did not take any questions from the media.
