I love to write Yelp reviews. I write good, even effusive, ones, and bad ones, too. I’ve called the pork belly at a well-known D.C. restaurant “hands-down the most revolting entrÉe I’ve ever been served.” It didn’t occur to me I could get sued for expressing my opinion because I always thought (duh) that statements of opinion are protected speech.

Until a lawsuit in Texas called that into question. A pet sitting company sued a couple who gave the business a one-star review, seeking $1 million in damages.
