Arthur Culvahouse Jr., a long-time Washington Republican insider who initially backed Jeb Bush, said this week that he plans to stick with the Donald Trump campaign after helping to vet the candidate’s picks for vice president.

The 68-year-old Culvahouse was chairman of O’Melveny & Myers from 2000 to 2012 and remains a partner at the firm. A polite and gracious Tennessean, he was counsel to President Ronald Reagan and led the team that vetted vice presidential candidates for Republican John McCain in 2008, leading to the controversial choice of Sarah Palin.
