Not for lack of trying, Facebook Inc. has once again fallen short in its bid to hold DLA Piper and other law firms liable for briefly representing Paul Ceglia, the fugitive New York businessman accused of fraudulently claiming an ownership stake in the social networking giant.

In a one-page ruling on Tuesday, the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, First Department denied Facebook’s motion for reargument in Facebook’s malicious prosecution and attorney deceit case against Ceglia’s erstwhile lawyers. Facebook targeted DLA Piper; Milberg; the Buffalo, New York-based Lippes Matthias Wexler Friedman; and eight individual lawyers, alleging they contributed to Ceglia’s alleged fraud.
