With busy trial, transactional and bankruptcy/restructuring practices, Dallas’ Thompson & Knight posted strong financials, with gross revenue improving by 3 percent, to $207.5 million, and profits per partner increasing 11.1 percent, to $950,000. Revenue per lawyer rose 5.6 percent, to $760,000.
“All of our transactional practices continued to be busy,” says Mark Sloan, who became the firm’s managing partner in February. “We saw an increase in our trial work and we saw, obviously due to the energy markets, an increase in our bankruptcy and restructuring work.” The firm’s litigation practice is busy defending oil and gas producers in royalty suits, Sloan says, and most of the firm’s other areas were “pretty steady” in 2015.
