A case brought by a former Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan client over allegedly “unexpected” and “undocumented” legal fees was sent to arbitration Tuesday by a Florida judge.

The client, former oil executive Joseph Sigelman, had engaged Quinn Emanuel in 2014 when he was accused of bribing a Colombian oil official in exchange for help winning a government contract for his company, PetroTiger Ltd. The case ended in a favorable settlement for Sigelman, who was sentenced to three years’ probation though he faced more than 20 years in prison.
