Last year, the Illinois judiciary system levied sanctions against 115 lawyers, mainly for fraudulent or deceptive activity, according to a 2014 report by the state’s Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission.
Thirty-one of those lawyers, or 27 percent, had a mental illness or a substance abuse problem, according to the ARDC. More than half were solo practitioners.
