Valentin Ribet, a bilingual white-collar litigation associate at Hogan Lovells in Paris, was the first victim to be identified in the terrorist attacks that killed at least 129 people in the city on Nov. 13. He died in a massacre at the Bataclan concert hall, according to news reports and a statement by the firm.

“This is an awful tragedy and hard for any of us to truly comprehend,” Hogan Lovells said in a message posted on a biography page for Ribet on the firm’s website. “We are shocked by both our loss and the wider events in the city.”
