It’s no secret that legal recruiters play an intimate role in many law firms’ lateral hiring efforts. It’s rare, however, for outsiders to catch a glimpse into the recruiting industry’s inner workings. A recent lawsuit pitting recruiter Michelle Foster against her erstwhile partner Eilene Bloom offers such a window.

The pair co-founded the New York-based Foster Bloom Legal Search just last year, but the relationship appears to have soured quickly. Foster sued Bloom last month in Delaware Chancery Court, accusing her of trade secret theft and of breaching the limited liability company contract that created Foster Bloom Legal in November 2014.
