With the 2015-2016 National Basketball Association season poised to tip off on Oct. 27, the league’s players union filed its annual financial statement Tuesday with the U.S. Department of Labor.

The document, which covers the 12-month period between July 1, 2014, and June 30, 2015, shows that the New York-based National Basketball Players Association had a dozen law firms on its payroll in its first year under the leadership of new executive director Michele Roberts, a former litigation partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Washington, D.C., who joined the firm in 2011.
