After a previous round of merger talks failed, it appears that Chadbourne & Parke and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman are once again mulling a union. The two firms are actively engaged in discussions about a potential combination, according to five sources familiar with the matter, two of whom said a deal could be completed by October.

One former Chadbourne partner said he heard about the merger talks through an internal source at the firm. The former partner said that Chadbourne created a committee of about a half-dozen partners to negotiate with Pillsbury before Chadbourne would inform its partnership about the deal.
