Kevyn Orr, who last year led Detroit through the largest municipal bankruptcy proceeding in U.S. history, will work for another city that has fallen on tough economic times: Atlantic City.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie announced Thursday that Orr will serve as special consultant to Atlantic City’s emergency manger, effective immediately, as first reported in The Wall Street Journal. Christie simultaneously appointed Kevin Lavin as the ailing city’s emergency manager, a move that has been unpopular with the local leadership.
