Picking up Lenovo’s startlingly light Yoga 3 Pro laptop, I couldn’t help but think of that old Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup commercial—you know, the one where the kid eating chocolate bumps into the kid eating peanut butter and they discover that

the mix tastes delicious. I thought about that ancient ad because I wanted this mix, a device that was part laptop, part tablet, to work well, too. The hybrid is a great idea, but vendors have long struggled to strike the right balance between portability and usability. Does the Yoga 3 Pro ($1,300 for the base configuration) nail the formula? No, but it comes tantalizingly close. The question is: Is that close enough?
