The legal and consultant fees that Detroit has incurred in its historic Chapter 9 bankruptcy proceedings total $178 million, according to court filings released in December.

Not surprisingly, Jones Day, lead debtor’s counsel, has submitted the highest bill, at $57.9 million. Dentons will be the second-highest-paid law firm in the bankruptcy, billing $15.41 million for its work as counsel to the official Committee of Retirees.
