Several Am Law 100 firms are warning their clients and the general public that their names and logos are being used by online scammers seeking to entice people into clicking on nefarious links or hand over sensitive information.

Late last month, a scam alert was sent out by England’s Solicitors Regulation Authority warning the public about emails and telephone calls by someone falsely claiming to be Shearman & Sterling attorney John Adams. The emails refer to an acquisition and ask the recipient to make a large payment into a bank account, the alert says.
