The legal and consultant fees Detroit has incurred as a result of its historic bankruptcy proceedings, in which the city sought to restructure $18 billion worth of debt, have come to a total of $178 million.
Not surprisingly, Jones Day—the firm that was hired by the city as its lead counsel— has submitted the highest bill, at $57.9 million.
