Dentons, the firm that served as counsel to the official Committee of Retirees during Detroit’s bankruptcy proceedings, has donated $500,000 to the Motor City’s fire department.

“Dentons is pleased to present this gift to Mayor [Mike] Duggan for the benefit of the city of Detroit and its residents, many of whom are among the approximately 23,500 city retirees we had the privilege to represent in the historic municipal bankruptcy case,” said Dentons U.S. CEO Peter Wolfson in the statement released Monday. “Our client—the Official Committee of Retirees—worked tirelessly to protect retiree pensions and sustain retiree health care.”
