More than a year and a half ago, when Kevyn Orr accepted the job as Detroit’s emergency manager, he told local reporters that the task at hand was to orchestrate one of the biggest turnarounds in American history—a feat he hoped to one day describe to his grandchildren.
“I think what I’ll tell my grandkids is that with teamwork you can accomplish everything,” Orr says in a phone interview Monday with The Am Law Daily. “Stakeholders on the financial side, and also on the labor side, were reasonable enough that we could cut some deals.”
