Houston’s hot lateral market, covered in detail by The American Lawyer earlier this year, saw Sidley Austin take the latest plunge by bringing on Andrews Kurth corporate partners DAVID DENECHAUD and JOE FLACK III.
Sidley announced this week its hire of Denechaud, a private equity pro, and Flack, an oil and gas M&A expert who earlier this year led an Andrews Kurth team advising Calgary-based Encana on its $3.1 billion acquisition of Eagle Ford Shale assets from Freeport-McMoRan. The Houston Business Journal reports that since opening in Houston two years ago by hiring seven partners from seven rival firms, Sidley’s local base has grown to 34 lawyers.
