K&L Gates has expanded in Australia with the hire of mining partner Robert Milbourne from Norton Rose Fulbright in Brisbane.
Milbourne specializes in transactions in the mining and energy sectors, with an emphasis on Brazil and China-related deals. In 2012, he represented Chinese state-owned coal miner Shandong Energy Group Co. on a $210 million acquisition of Australian counterpart Rocklands Richfield. He recently advised Myanmar’s Ministry of Mines on reviewing mining regulations of the newly opened country.
