The $3.4 million pay package extended to former U.S. House Majority Leader and attorney Eric Cantor by investment banking boutique Moelis & Co. may have garnered much of the new hire headlines last week, but the start of September is usually one of the busiest times each year for lateral moves. And 2014 has been no exception.
The Am Law Daily broke the news late last month of Jones Day’s hire of Shearman & Sterling’s Latin American M&A head Michael McGuinness in New York. McGuinness, a former in-house lawyer at General Electric who returned to Shearman in 2009, will now see two other ex-GE colleagues join him at Jones Day.
