On July 6, 2013, Asiana Airlines flight 214 crashed at San Francisco International Airport, killing three and injuring 181. Within 24 hours, the National Transportation Safety Board was on the scene, beginning a one-year investigation into the accident.
The NTSB has virtually no formal power—it can’t levy fines or impose regulations, its findings can’t even be cited in lawsuits—but that doesn’t mean its review isn’t important. Asiana hired Covington & Burling special counsel Daniel Suleiman to represent the airline during the investigation, which concluded this summer.
