Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has alleged Al-Jazeera America Holdings Inc. is withholding $65 million owed to Current Media shareholders so it could wage legal battles against cable distributors, according to updated court papers filed in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

Gore, who was Current’s executive chairman of the board, and Joel Hyatt, the network’s vice chairman, filed a sealed complaint against the Qatar-based news agency earlier this month. A statement of good cause filed with the lawsuit only detailed the plaintiffs’ claims that Al-Jazeera will not return the $65 million placed into an escrow account after it paid roughly $500 million for Current in January 2013.
