The Obama administration is poised to rescind at least a portion of a White House rule that bars lobbyists from serving on agency committees and boards, likely ending a court fight over the First Amendment.
The U.S. Office of Management and Budget is reviewing a proposed change that “would no longer disqualify the plaintiffs from applying for membership on the Industry Trade Advisory Committees,” according to a report filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on July 30 by the U.S. Department of Justice and six lobbyists who are fighting the ban in Autor v. Pritzker.
