It always pays to be early—or does it? When it comes to employers and Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been cracking down, according to Anita Sorensen of Foley & Lardner in a recent post.

However, while some employers are starting the process early—before an employee starts work—Sorensen warns this tactic can trigger other violations with ICE.
