Hacked: Chinese hackers gained access to the Office of Personnel Management’s database of federal personnel, The New York Times reports. It’s not clear how deeply the hackers were able to penetrate, but some of OPM’s information is highly sensitive. For example, applicants for security clearances detail information such as foreign contacts and past drug use. A Homeland Security official said the government has not identified the loss of any personally identifiable information.

Ventura v. SEAL: The Washington Post tells the story of a defamation lawsuit filed by former Minnesota governor and pro wrestler Jesse Ventura against slain Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. In his book “American Sniper,” Kyle recounted a bar fight, allegedly against Ventura, who he said was “running his mouth” and criticizing the SEALS. Ventura says the incident never happened. The case is now in trial in St. Paul, Minn.
