A judge has refused to upset Robert Simels’ witness bribery conviction, or even let the once-prominent criminal defense attorney have a hearing on his claims of ineffective legal representation and due process violations in the government’s use of a wired informant against him.

After tough questions for the defense during oral arguments Eastern District Judge John Gleeson (See Profile) said from the bench today that Simels advanced “numerous blunderbuss allegations that, in my view, generate far more heat than light.”
